ON-LINE CATALOG

Often we are asked which of our albums is our personal favorite, or "which one is the best one?". This is always a tough question, as we grow quite attached to them all, for different reasons. We try to give each of our recordings a particular "feel", and so there really is no choosing a favorite for us. To help you understand what we offer, we've tried to put that "feel" into words as best we could. Here's a run-down of most of the albums that are currently available from OPR/Eutycus Records. To find out how to order any of our albums, just click on any of the CD or cassette icons in this catalog, and you will be whisked away to our "How To Order" section, by the magic of cyberspace technology!

"Acoustic Traditions"

Tom Rasely & Scott B. Adams

This is a collection of 13 familiar folk songs and light classical favorites. "Amazing Grace" was included as a result of a request made by Chris Natoli, owner of the Music Loft in Norwich, NY. "Pachelbel's Canon" and "Simple Gifts" surprised us by working together in a medley; we had an opportunity to play this arrangement live with the Binghamton Philharmonic Pops in 1996. The only original song on this collection, "Nantucket Sound", was written by Tom and Scott while traveling across Nantucket Sound on the way to do a concert on the Island. The rest of the album features the Rasely/Adams guitar duo, joined by bass, percussion, live strings, keyboard, and trumpet.

"Celtic Traditions"

Celtimorphosis

As you can see, we're building our own "traditions" here at OPR/Eutycus. And with "Celtic Traditions", Brian Hyland and Chris Woodard continue their pursuit of blending the traditional Celtic sounds and instruments with a twist of jazz. There's that same mix of traditional Irish tunes with folk and classical melodies that can be found on their debut, eponymous Celtimorphosis release (see below). But the sound has grown: we were able to incorporate a taste of the very popular "Riverdance" sound: a little bit more keyboards from Tom Rasely and and a little more percussion by our man-with-the-toys Joel Smales. This is delightful listening, and you might even find yourself step-dancing. There's 14 instrumental songs on this CD/cassette, most of which are medleys, so you get a lot more music for your shamrock.

"Christmas Traditions"

Tom Rasely, Scott B. Adams & Friends

This is the third album in the "Traditions Trilogy" series. "Christmas Traditions" gave Scott and Tom a chance to feature the talents of many of the artists who have lent their musicality to previous OPR/Eutycus albums: Steve Codner, a trumpet player and high school band director from Groton,NY; Joel Smales, an extraordinary percussionist with the Binghamton (NY) Philharmonic Orchestra; Eric Aceto, who creates and builds the unique Aceto Violects, from Trumansburg,NY; Danny Lovett, whose bass playing helped to define the Eutycus Sound and now can be found as "Mr. Frisky", from Lansing,NY; and Ron Palmer, who played lead guitar with the Harry Chapin band, from Norwich,NY. Even the enigmatic Tom Boston has a feature arrangement on this album. The collection is wrapped together by Tom and Scott's trademark guitar duo and beautiful production. 12 familiar songs in all: it's more than a sampler, and we hope it will become a Christmas tradition for you.

"A Lakeside Christmas"

Tom Rasely & Scott B. Adams

Our studio is located between the two largest of the Finger Lakes in upstate New York, and so the Lakeside theme was a natural. We tried to treat the very familiar carols with a fresh "timeless" approach, because we feel there should be no season on The Season. Actually, many people have told us they enjoy listening to "Lakeside" in July. Nylon-string and steel-string guitars are joined by keyboards, bass and percussion on the twelve cuts; special features include Jim Sargent's trumpet, and the original title tune features Eric Aceto's plaintive violect (fiddle) interlude of "Angels We Have Heard On High". It's good listening no matter what lake you're near.

"Words Are Not Enough"

Tom Rasely

A little more upbeat, but still a very relaxing collection of 11 original songs in a light acoustic pop-jazz style. Tom's guitar/keyboard work is joined by Danny Lovett (Mr. Frisky) on bass, and Monk Rowe on saxophone. The lead off tune "Masquerade" was included on a PAC Compilation CD for radio station distribution; Cynthia Maggard of PAC wrote "I don't know Tom Rasely from Tom Seaver but this is my favorite cut on the CD". (In case you're wondering, Seaver was the one who pitched for the Mets; Rasely plays the guitar.) Even President Clinton owns a copy of "Words", thanks to our friend Nancy Pullen of Logos Bookstore, Nantucket Island. We've often wondered if he actually ever listened to it. Hey, we can dream, can't we?

"Celtimorphosis"

Brian Hyland & Chris Woodard

Brian Hyland (the Irish musician from Binghamton, NY- not the guy who did "Sealed With A Kiss") is a second generation Irishman. His traditional instruments [penny whistle, flute, accordeon and boron] are joined by brother-in-law Chris Woodard's jazz flavored acoustic guitar and mandolin. Some of the tunes on this collection were originally performed by Brian and Chris as part of the soundtrack of the WSKG Public Television, Emmy-nominated production "Hellmira", about the Civil War prison camp in Elmira, NY. This is an all-instrumental collection of Celtic music that even non-Irish folks will enjoy.

"In Midnight's Silence"

Dan Veaner & Lisa Craig

Celtic harp and flute...traditional Christmas and Irish tunes...this album is soothing from first to last, taking you far away from the hustle and bustle of the Holiday Season. "Silence" may very well be the perfect Christmas Eve album.
