Ray is a
doctoral student in the Technology and Operations Management group at
Harvard Business School.
Prior to his studies, Ray founded and ran a technology consulting
firm and value-added reseller. Virgin Mobile USA, Plumtree Software,
and the state of California represent just a few of his clients.
Most recently, he provided financial and strategic consulting advice
to a high-technology firm in Dubai that is contemplating an IPO, and
operational and marketing advice to a local diamond merchandiser.
Ray has also worked as an international oilfield engineer for
Schlumberger, where he explored and characterized petroleum and
natural gas reservoirs throughout the world, especially in Russia
and South East Asia.
Ray earned both an MBA and a Master's of Science in Electrical
Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology (MIT) as part of the MIT LFM Fellowship program. He
earned dual-B.S. degrees in both Chemical Engineering and Petroleum
Engineering from UC-Berkeley. He is also close to completing a
Master's degree in Information Technology at Harvard.
Ray's research interests include the management and competitive
strategies of the telecom/datacom, Internet, software, and media
industries. He is especially interested in technology platform
development and innovation. He is also a trivia enthusiast who
enjoys discussing politics, culture, and history.
