Welcome!
This lab is intended to serve the research computing needs of HBS faculty and doctoral students. To see which research software packages are available on each machine, please see FRCC Research Software.
While using the machines, please save all files in the folder “USER FILES" on the desktop. Within "USER FILES" place all of your files in a subfolder labeled with your first initial and last name (e.g., jsmith).
If you need to leave an application running in your absence, please complete an “APPLICATION RUNNING” sheet. Please fill out this form completely and be sure to include your contact information as well as the approximate time/date that your job will be finished.
The hard drives on these machines are cleaned on a regular basis and are not backed up. You are responsible for ensuring that you have a copy of all files when you leave. For information on file transfer or storage options, please ask any RCS staff member.
We welcome your suggestions for additional software you would like to have installed on these computers. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, please check with an RCS staff member before installing any new software on the machines.
Faculty have 24/7 access to this room; everyone else has access during regular RCS office business hours (8:30-5:30, Monday through Friday). After-hours access for HBS doctoral students can be granted on an as-needed basis. Please email your request to research@hbs.edu and allow two business days for access rights to be processed.
If you have after-hours access to the lab, you will need your ID to enter the room when the RCS office is closed. Make sure you take your HBS ID with you if you leave the room after hours, as you will need it to get back in.
