L. Randel Unit Coordinator Marketing Unit |
Katharine Randel is the Unit Coordinator for the Marketing Unit at Harvard Business School. She works closely with Professor Sunil Gupta, chair of the Marketing Unit, to create strategies and programs that foster unit cohesion and mission. Some of the programs she administers are unit conferences, research seminars, faculty retreats and social events. As a central contact for internal and external relations, Ms. Randel organizes faculty recruiting, acts as a liaison with administrative departments, and responds to inquiries from the public. She also coordinates administration of the Required Curriculum course, First Year Marketing. In 2008 Ms. Randel received a Greenhill Award for her outstanding contributions to the Marketing Unit and Harvard Business School.
Prior to holding the Unit Coordinator position, Ms. Randel was for ten years a faculty assistant in the Marketing Unit. During that time she assisted two tenured faculty, one of whom was the unit chair. She also was a member of the joint Harvard University/Harvard Union of Clerical and Technical Workers (HUCTW) Local Problem Solving Team and a member of the joint Harvard Business School Human Resources/HUCTW committee to create and develop two new administrative positions.
Ms. Randel has also managed a monthly social investing newsletter, now called Investing for a Better World; and administered a National Institute of Mental Health research project, the Project on Professionals, studying the effects of growing administrative structures on doctors, lawyers, scientists and engineers. She has a BA with honors from Allegheny College, Meadville, PA in Psychology and Religion.
