(back to main page)

Length: 25.5 inches
Weight: 17 pounds
Likes:

  • That funny noise Aunt Sarah makes. Toby even laughs when she makes the noise over the phone. Nobody else can replicate it.
  • Exersaucer: it's Toby's little drum set
  • Light tosses in the air. Airplane rides.
  • Watching his dogs
  • Zerberts on the tummy and neck
  • Putting hands in our mouths (maybe he'll be a dentist?)
  • Still loves the thumb
  • Has found his feet in a big way. Sogs them up at every opportunity
  • Christmas tree lights

Dislikes:

  • Being put in the snowsuit, particularly in a car seat

Sleep Habits:

No change. But we're still far to superstitious to talk about it. ; ) We did have a rough patch for about a week, but he seems to be back to normal. (addendum on 12/22: His sleep appears to be much more variable lately...teething?)

Other Happenings:

  • Toby has had a little rice cereal (first cereal was on December 13th). He's not a big fan yet, but we keep trying.
  • Toby had a rolling breakthrough on December 2nd. Now he rolls as if it's no big deal at all. In fact, he logrolls around the floor and is often nowhere near where we left him if we look away for a minute. The dogs find this new development a bit worrisome. We plan to begin the baby-proofing process over break.
  • First Jazz piano December 19 (pictures to follow)
  • First Kiss, also December 19: To celebrate his 6 month birthday, his friend Audrey (who is about 6 weeks older than he) decided Toby should have a kiss. She looked at him, and held out both arms, making a very clear signal to give her the baby. She then proceded to lay a big, sloppy kiss on his cheek. Toby wasn't sure what to make of it.
  • Scooches around on his back, pushing with his legs
  • Watches the dogs and laughs
  • We went to two Christmas parties on the 20th. Toby slept through the entire second party in his car seat next to the coats. What a good boy!
  • Babbles all the time. When he's really happy, makes a happy noise while inhaling and smiling. It's very sweet.
