Words

Up! Mama, Dada, Odie, Tory, Please (Peeesssseeee), More (Mo? Mo?), Mo Peeessseee!, Night Night (na na), Bye Bye, barks like a dog (yes, he barks with the dogs when they bark. oy!) Book.

The more desirable the item, the more high-pitched the "Peeesssseeee?"

Signs:

Up, more, all gone, book, hungry, thirsty, milk, please, help

Likes:

  • Music, Dancing and SNAPPING! (ok, he doesn't make noise, but the intention is definitely to be snapping!)
  • The book Blue Hat Green Hat. That silly turkey is bound to get laughs everytime
  • Piggie back rides
  • Shoulder rides. He's finally old enough to hold onto his feet and he can balance himself up there.

Dislikes:

  • Still not big on pasta or cheese. Weird.

Other Happenings:

  • Can find his own nose, can find Mom's nose
  • Can find his own belly button, can find Mom's belly button
  • Visit to Cape Cod to visit with Fred & Madeleine
  • Visit to Lakeside Michigan to see Leslie, Ed and Baby Gabe. Toby LOVED the beach there; playing in the water and running to visit with the many doggies
  • Blows kisses - although the timing of the kiss and the hand motion aren't always in synch
  • We've been in a sort of bedtime honeymoon. After brushing teeth, reading and singing, he says 'Na na', blows kisses, and waits to be put into bed. At which point he just rolls over and goes to sleep.
  • Says 'Oy? Oy?' when pointing to just about anything.
  • Very mechanically inclined -- seems to know how to operate most of our childproofing stuff, although doesn't actually have the skill or strength yet.
  • Shakes his head and says 'No' before doing something he knows he's not supposed to do, like tossing food to the dogs.
  • Loves thunder. Laughs at loud thunderclaps and then says 'Mo?'

Milestones:

  • July 10: Uncle Magnus gave Toby his first ice cream. It was a great hit!
  • July 23: Toby climbs onto the windowsill in the living room. oh my! We now only open the windows from the top, and we moved the couch in front of the window. So far, he hasn't figured out how to climb over the back of the couch.
  • July 29th: Walked dogs with Auntie -- Toby held Tory's leash the entire time.
  • August 1st: Plays with the New York, New York dog and snaps his fingers when it sings.
  • August 1st: Signs 'Please' for the first time.
  • August 1st: Says 'Molly', which is the name of one of the dogs at daycare,
  • August 3rd: Blows kisses for the first time.
  • August 4th: Feeds self with a spoon.
  • August 10th: Hugs Mom!
  • August 11th: Says 'Wheeee!'
