Length: 31"
Weight: 20 lbs. 12 oz.
Likes:
- Finger foods: Cheerios, plums, pears, peaches, meatloaf, mango, apricots,
risotto, chicken, turkey burger
- Yogurt!
- Drinking. Enjoys the sippy cup, but prefers it with the lid off. Can
drink a little by himself, but gets excited and waves the cup around...usually
splashes himself.
- Wheeling his car between people's legs. You can actually set up a
little course for him and he will zig zag around going through everyone's
legs.
- Transporting anything on his little push car (pot lids, dog toys,
stacking cups, you name it!)
- Riding around on his push car (being pushed is fun, but he can move
it around under his own steam now)
- Saying "Tory" and patting her on the head. She winces with
every pat, but clearly loves Toby a lot because she doesn't run away.
- Crawling while carrying things in his hands (balls, blocks, pot lids...the
noisier the better) At least he can't sneak up on the dogs anymore.
BANG BANG BANG as he crawles across the floor.
- Being hung over the side of the rowboat in Hollis splashing his hands
& feet in the water.
- Throwing food over the side of the highchair (yes, we discourage this)
- Grabbing Mom's nose. He thinks it's hilarious if you grab his nose
back. We were at the pediatrician's office and I said to the doctor
"mama knows" and before we knew it he had grabbed my nose!
ha!
- He thinks tooth-brushing is the funniest thing ever. Can't wait to
do it once we head to the bathroom!
- Swimming, water
Dislikes:
- Foods: Pasta (so far), sweet potato
Other Happenings:
- We enjoyed celebrating Andrew's 3rd birthday with his Mom & Dad
up in Hollis.
- Vocabulary: "mama" "dada" "doggie" "all
gone" (ahga!) "bye bye" (b-b-b) "balloon" (baooooo!)
"Up" , "Uh-oh" (though sometimes it's "oh oh"
or "oh uh")
- Walking: he's taking about 3-4 steps on his own. He's walking everywhere
with his little car, even climbing up, so he's into everything.
Milestones:
- June 1st: Use of "more" sign, also "milk" and
"all gone"
- June 1st: Babbling full sentences, we usually have no idea what he's
saying.
- June 3rd: Toby was happy and he knew it! Today he clapped and laughted
as Jessica and Josh sang "If You're Happy and You Know It"
- June 4th: Climbs onto his red car to ride it (and pushes himself around)
- June 5th: Stands from a crouch without pulling himself up on anything
- June 5th: Toby was in training for his chocolate birthday cake. Mom
gave him a crumb of her Thin Mint cookie. He eagerly signed "More".
After one more taste (and one more "more" sign) when Mom said
"All Gone", Toby signed "All gone" then cried. He
certainly got his taste in cookies from his Mom!
- June 6th: Says "Uh-oh!" "Uh-oh!" "Uh-oh!"
- June 6th: Takes two steps, possibly by mistake
- June 6th: Plays with his "Tobias" train, making "Vrooom!"
sounds, wheeling them around, tickling Mom's feet with them.
- June 8th: Waves, says "Bye-Bye!" ("Ba Ba Ba!")
- June 12th: Says "Up!"
- June 19th: First Birthday!!! Party hats, presents, chocolate cake,
and a bath. When he came downstairs from his nap, Aunt Sarah and Uncle
David had decorated the kitchen with streamers and balloons. Toby was
in awe. Just kept saying "Oooohhh Oooohh" and pointing all
around.
- June 26th: Toby was having a hard time falling asleep. Mom went up
and put in a Bach CD. Toby listened standing up in his crib. When the
first song ended, as Jessica was heading out of the room, he looked
at her and signed "more". More Bach! This boy has taste. The
CD continued, Mom left, and Toby fell right asleep. We'll have to remember
his good taste in music when he's a teenager and we hate his musical
taste!
- June 27th: Says "Ahhhgaaa," which we know from context is
"all gone"
