Likes:
- Finger foods: Cheerios, cut plums, avocado, pancakes, banana, rice
cakes, matzoh, bread, bagel, rice chex
- Baths. Toby loves to play in the tub (he gets *angry* when you take
him out!) He stands on the side of the tub and jumps up & down in
excitement. He can climb into the tub with extreme ease. (I caught him,
don't worry!)
- Hammer from the push car
- Casually dropping food from his highchair to feed the dogs
- Toby already loves to climb. He'll climb up on a box, sit there and
scan for the next step up.
- Toby's favorite food right now is yogurt. It's the one thing he'll
eat without fail.
- "Reading" his touch & feel books. Especially the Puppy
one he has in the picture above. Whenever you put a book in front of
him he reaches out and scratches it looking for the textured parts.
Dislikes:
- When his little car runs into a wall, he gets really frustrated because
he hasn't learned how to turn it around yet.
- banging his head, which he does approximately every 5 minutes
Sleep Habits:
We're sort of on the mend. Up once or twice a night.
Other Happenings:
- "The ooze" when he's done eating. I got video, but it might
be too gross to post. Basically, when Toby doesn't want to eat something
he just oozes it out down his chin. If you persist, he will keep oozing,
or escalate to blowing raspberries while windmilling his arms around
to block the spoon's path to his mouth. A very effective strategy, it
turns out.
- Yelling, especially when out on a car ride.
- Head bob / shake: He does this back at you when you say no, as in
"Toby, no oozing"
- Toby adores the dogs' toys and will do anything to get to them. Of
course, the dogs love Toby's toys. Argh! The grass is always greener,
right?
- On April 19, Josh was feeding Toby lunch. He turned around to give
him a spoon of green beans, and Toby had fallen asleep on his highchair
tray! : ) Alas, no picture.
Milestones:
- March 20: put ring on stacker toy
- March 26: crawls to Mom saying clearly "ma ma ma" Now he
says Mama a lot, usually when sad or distressed alas.
- March 27: feeds self plum bits
- March 30th: tooth #3 (bottom)
- April 9: goes up one step at Sarah Auerbach's house, Waves at Aunt
Sarah
- April 10: walks while pushing little car for the first time
- April 11 (Easter): stair climbing breakthrough in Winchester, climbs
9 or 10 stairs
- April 16th: Dances when he notices Mama dancing across the room. Tried
yogurt for the first time, tooth #4 (first top tooth)
- April 17th: Stands for a few seconds, does this more & more starting
now
- April 18th: Stands for a while when leaning on stuff, not holding
on. Starts climbing.
- April 18th: (or so) he's cruising a lot. Moving around from one thing
to another while standing up.
